La aorta es el principal vaso sanguíneo del cuerpo. Lleva sangre rica en oxigeno del corazón al resto del cuerpo. Un aneurisma aórtico es un punto débil de la aorta que se abulta como un globo hacia fuera. Un aneurisma aórtico es una afección seria. Si se rompe o se desgarra y abre puede causar un sangrado dentro del cuerpo que pone en peligro la vida.
