Quit TipsKicking the tobacco habit is one of the best things you can do for your health, but it is also challenging.Follow this checklist to help you successfully quit using tobacco and stay motivated.Do: Tell your loved ones you are trying to quit. Your friends and family can encourage you to stick to your planand see it through.Do: Set a quit date. This will help you solidify your commitment and give you time to prepare.Do: Get rid of the things that make you want to use tobacco. For example, get rid of ashtrays, lighters and anyextra cigarettes you have around the house or car, so you are not tempted to smoke.Do: Change your routine. Replace habits that triggered you to use tobacco with new, healthy routines. Forexample, if you typically smoke in the morning on the porch, go for a walk instead.Do: Decide if you are going to use any kind of nicotine replacement products. If the answer is yes, know how touse them by the time your quit day arrives.Do: Ask for help. Take advantage of all the support available to you. Friends, family, co-workers and supportgroups online or in person, can help you stay on track.
